Abstract

This paper attempts to provide an approach to interpreting classical music with performance as the main focus. The purpose is to create the most authentic performance possible, as the composer intended the piece to be performed. This paper uses historical context as one aspect to approach interpreting Bartok's viola concerto to create an authentic performance.
