At the downtown Portland Hilton, candidates Dave Frohnmayer (R), Barbara Roberts (D), Al Mobely (I), and Fred Oerther (L) responded to questions and one another in this gubernatorial debate. This event was recorded for KATU-8 (Portland TV) and sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Oregon. The candidates discuss a state tax on gasoline, housing for the deinstitutionalized mentally ill, higher education budgets and libraries, the lumber industry, juvenile crime and incarceration, gay rights, and negative campaign advertising.
