Abstract

We apply project management processes and practices studied in Project Management Framework (PMF) to a Portland company that engineers and manufactures guidance visualization systems for commercial, business, and military transport aircraft. The current functional groups and project management structure and processes at the company are described. Relating concepts studied, the team describes problems in the project management culture, link to corporate strategy, management support, and process integration. The company’s project management achievements and problems are viewed in the context of three project management maturity and excellence models: the Project Management Maturity Model, the Hexagon of Excellence, and a Systemwide Scorecard model. Finally, the team provides recommendations and an action plan to improve project management at the company, using the Project Management Maturity Model as the basis for improvement.
