Abstract

This paper is a technical translation into English of V. A. Melentiev's (Мелентьев) 2010 paper, Аналитический подход к синтезу регулярных графов с заданными значениями порядка, степени и обхвата, (translated by Volkova as: An Analytical Approach to the Construction and Representation of Regular Graphs From a Given Order, Degree, and Girth) with added commentary by the translator. The translated document, originally in Russian, introduces a new method of representing graphs in graph theory, by writing out "parenthetical equations" (what Melentiev calls "проекции") instead of depending on visual representations. This paper aims to provide a clear explanation of Melentiev's methods over direct, word-for-word translations. There is an emphasis on both the mathematics discussed and the linguistic aspect of a clear translation.
