Abstract

This is the third of eight bundles containing videos, audio files and photographs of the Mokain reinstatement. In this series, the regularly elected section chief was to be reinstated much to the displeasure of the acting section chief who had lost the election but had been appointed to serve in the interim as section chief by Speaker Suffian, the Speaker for Paramount Chief Madam Lenga.

Najimu Koroma was originally elected and reinstated, after a two-year suspension by the District Officer because of showing favoritism in a court case involving his father and uncle. Lamin Koroma initially lost the elections, but was installed as the replacement following Najimu's suspension.

Many celebrations took place in Fakai, Najimu's hometown.

Language use note: When Speaker Suffian spoke he used Bolom at first, with an interpreter translating into Krio. As he went on he switched to Krio and the interpreter translated what he said into Bolom.
