HGJPA: OPEN CALL FOR REVIEWERS

The HGJPA welcomes new manuscript reviewers to support the process of advancing research, theory, and practice in the area of public affairs concerning local, state, national, and international issues. The HGJPA is an independently published open access journal; it is operated by graduate students and professionals in the public affairs community, and it is therefore dependent on community input and participation for continued success. Please join us!

Reviewer Responsibilities

Generally, reviewers assess submitted papers based on significance to the field, quality of research, and quality of writing, and then make one of the following recommendations:

  • Accept (or “Accept with minor revisions”)
  • Revisions required
  • Resubmit for review (i.e., “Major revisions required”)
  • Reject

Written evaluations should be as complete and detailed as possible, a include clear opinions about manuscript strengths, weaknesses, relevance, and importance to the information literacy field. HGJPAreviewers should consider themselves as mentors to the contributing authors; their comments and suggestions should be specific, constructive, and courteous. See the HGJPA Reviewer Guidelines below:

HGJPA Reviewer Guidelines

The Editorial Team requests that reviewers commit to evaluating an average of two manuscripts per 9-month period. This involves a review when a manuscript is submitted and a review when the manuscript is resubmitted following revisions, totaling four reviews in total for two manuscripts.

Review Process

The HGJPA review process is double-blind; the identities of reviewers, authors, and institutions are removed from the process. The Editorial Team conducts an initial review of all submissions to determine whether they are appropriate and of sufficient quality to warrant a professional review. Those deemed to have sufficient potential are assigned to three reviewers: one Editorial Board member and two members of the Reviewer Team. Assignments are made based on reviewer expertise and availability.
