Abstract
Earthquake liquefaction is the process of soil drastically losing strength, causing immense damage and settlement to buildings. De-saturated soil is less susceptible to liquefaction compared to saturated soil. MID introduces nitrogen gas to de-saturate the soil and is less disruptive compared to other soil-mixing methods. The site we are looking at successfully de-saturated in 2019. Since then, it has re-saturated. The objective of this research is to understand if re-treatment is still applicable. Over 5 weeks, a total of 1266.16 gallons of injection solution was injected. Vp monitoring indicates soil has successfully de-saturated and chemical strip tests and electrical conductivity monitoring indicates denitrification process is occurring. Re-treatment can successfully be implemented
