Abstract
The cost of recovering recyclable materials from the garbage at a transfer station has not been used in evaluation of transfer station proposals in the Metro area. This study developed a method to provide decision makers with economic information about material recovery costs based on proposed capital investment and O&M expenses. The effect over time of different recovery rates were evaluated along with the expected value of recovery and break-even rates.
