Abstract
Although much of the literature on community–university partnerships is about experiential learning (e.g., service-learning) or research (e.g., community-engaged scholarship), this article explores community–campus partnerships for supporting students’ basic needs. The need for these partnerships is vital, as the number of college students experiencing food and/or housing insecurity while obtaining their degree(s) continues to increase. Following a review of relevant literature, we share several examples of these community–campus partnerships in action. We conclude the article with a set of considerations for higher education institutions that wish to develop successful and lasting community–campus partnerships.
