Abstract
As the barriers of free trade are removed and the hope of a World Market becomes a reality, the key to economic success will be higher-quality products and services. This is demonstrated by the growing acceptance of international quality standards, such as the ISO 9000 series standard, for which the main purpose is the assurance of consistency of product quality and reliability. Underlying the increasing level of ISO 9000 registration activity is the fact that the ISO 9000 standards describe a technically sound quality system for use by manufacturing and service organizations. They find that meeting all requirements of the standard results in significant internal benefits and that the rewards are well worth the cost and effort.
