Abstract

BRIDGiT is a revolutionary concept that combines a two-way speech translator with a travel survival kit in a convenient package that fits on a world traveler’s cell phone. At its core, BRIDGiT uses state-of-the-art speech recognition and translation technologies to translate, in real-time, from one language to another. Unlike existing electronic translating devices which only support one-way speech translation, from English to other languages, BRIDGiT is capable of translating two-way conversations. To complement its translator core, BRIDGiT’s survival kit allows travelers to access and store customized local information such as culture, attractions, people and more onto their cell phones. As a benefit, travelers no longer need to lug around heavy guidebooks and phrasebooks.
