Abstract
The Internet Portal Industry is a new and emerging Industry. Competition is fierce both internally and from externally. New entrants are likely and existing competitors are seeking ways to undermine current market share. Partnerships that are internally linked via a complex ‘ecosystem’ format is emerging. This web of competition and stakeholders requires extensive strategic planning to stay ahead of the competition. One firm that has successfully competed in this new industry is Yahoo! Incorporated. This report reviews the Internet Portal Industry, Yahoo’s current situation and strategy and offers alternative strategies for analysis based on industrial Key Success Factors and firm related Critical Issues. Based on the analysis and linking with the Key Success Factors and Critical Issues, this report recommends an Alternative Strategy for Yahoo and implementation timeline for the strategy.
