Abstract
The key issue in the continuing innovation of the Internet is the continuing convergence of developing technology and applications to synthesize and form a new economic functional system. This article focuses on the Internet’s innovation in the past, to the present day and into the future. The advancement of networks, including open network architecture, and the generation of Internet foundation applications like Email are discussed. Modern day development of bandwidth that drives telecommunication applications like VoIP, and the development of NTT DoCoMo’s mobile Internet are presented, as well as the fundamental change of the traditional business model that forms the basis of E-commerce.
