Abstract
Traditional production systems methodologies, such as optimization and group technology, can be combined with lean production thinking to dramatically reduce the cycle time and maximize resource utilization. While these techniques can be effectively used to obtain improved results, the examples described in this paper assume deterministic task duration times and predecessor task completion.
