Abstract
This study is to track the development of production planning systems from the earlier manual methods through the state of the art of the art intelligent CIM (Computer Integrated Manufacturing) to models. Today's research focuses on integrating all of the various manufacturing functions into a single automated system. The goal is to create a real-time production planning system which will have the capability of optimizing a manufacturing facility's efficiency as fluctuations in supply, demand, and performance are encountered.
