Abstract
Executive Summary _ ~ US Electricar has been building and retrofitting vehicles for twenty-five years. They have struggled with funding from investors and government grunts over the years, but are still around and poised for success in a time of increased environmental regulation. Advances in technology for electric motors and batteries arc essential for the success of the company. Opportunities for sales of electric passenger cars exist in polluted, densely populated urban areas both in the United States and abroad. Government regulations on emissions also create an opportunity for US Electricar. There are, however threats to the company from large automobile manufacturers. lack of funding, and slow advancement of technology especially in terms of driving range. This paper analyses the environment of the company, the success factors of the industry, the company's present strategy, as well as some alternatives for the future. Analytic tools are included in the appendices.
