Abstract
Utilities, based on their type, either generate, transmit or distribute electricity or do combination of two or all three. This study tries to measure productivity of utilities based on their strategy and performance of generating, transmitting, and distributing electricity. The methodology is used to measure the relative efficiency of utilities is Data Envelope Analysis (DEA). For this study, northwest utilities (OR, WA, MT, and ID) that only generate or transmit the electricity are not considered. Besides, Malmquist Index is used to measure the productivity change between 2012 and 2013.
