Abstract
This paper examined blockchain and looked at its various applications for this technology in the banking sector to give it a competitive advantage in the age of the internet. Furthermore, this paper is also assessing what would happen if banks ignore this technology and what would happen if they do not adopt blockchain. If they weren’t to adopt blockchain, large banks would lose their competitive advantage to smaller, nimbler startups that do not have high overhead costs due to the old brick and mortar system.
