Abstract
More and more, companies are using teams of personnel that span multiple locations and multiple disciplines. This can increase competitiveness by shortening turnaround time of a project and being able to utilize a wider talent pool that a company would not otherwise be able to reach. Many challenges come along with these virtual teams however, because the members and leader are not in physical proximity to each other. A literature study is done to examine these challenges, and empirical evidence is given by group members in Team 5 that build on previous research. It was found that strategically timed meetings can help close the gap on communication of a team and allow them to function better when working virtually.
