Abstract
In late 90’s when internet become popular, it not only revolutionized the way we live, work, learn, interact but also added millions of dollars as revenue to companies in the form of voice over internet protocol, instant messaging, internet protocol television, website technology and social networking [1]. One of the major contributions of internet in the field of software development has been the birth of open source software development. The open source software community gifted the world with an opportunity to create, share, use and reuse knowledge with everyone. Knowledge reuse not only saves time and cost, but also increases the reliability and quality of the product. This paper will try to explore some of major factors leading to reuse of knowledge in open source software development.
