Abstract

Change is the word that the most people would not like to face with. This is not because it is a bad thing by itself, but it is because people feel negative side of its. In fact, change make the world move forward. A change could affect and influence on an area. The area would adapt itself for survival or some reasons. When an area changed itself, it probably affects other areas. That is like a chain. In similar, there are impacts on organizations when the economic, politics, social, and technology shift from a place to another. Actually, we would think that the change is challenges that companies will be face with to be survive and grow their organization. Definitely, the impacts of changes force organizations rethink about their strategies and management. In this paper, understanding the program management is a basis of study, so the first part will describe about the meaning of the term “program management” and the contrasts between characteristics of program and project management. The next section will presents emerging program management since 1950s. Relating how program management has played an integral part in the globalization process and the development of international markets, it also elaborates how program management fits into the framework of a business organization.
