Abstract
Cars that drive themselves, is not fantasy. In fact, tests have been underway for years investigating the feasibility of such technology. So why have we been unable to get these devices in the hands of consumers? The underlying technology exists; Microcomputers, Radar, Electro-mechanical feedback and control systems, Magnetic proximity sensors, Global positioning units, Voice recognition systems, Touch screen flat panel displays, Wireless data networking etc. Therefore, there must be some other forces keeping the technology from early adopters.
