Abstract
The problem of how to implement and manage modern industrial technology without undue harm to the environment is a critical issue for today’s high-technology societies. Industrial technology has clearly provided numerous benefits at the economic, social, and individual levels, but the growing use of fossil fuel technologies and the environmental damage they cause has led some to question whether our current form of industrial development can continue [1,2,3]. The concept of sustainability offers one possible solution to this problem by guiding economic and technological development such that they can meet ―"the needs of today without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs [4]"
