Abstract
This paper introduces many of the different rapid prototyping technologies and discusses the benefits and disadvantages of each process. Solid modeling software is also detailed: what is available to the foundry industry and the benefits of using this software prior to creating tooling. The future of rapid prototyping and it's importance to the pursuit of concurrent engineering strategy are also discussed.
