Abstract
“Muscle Mutt” is a second-generation quadrupedal robot testing platform modeled after a greyhound. This research focuses on building robust control software for the purposes of testing and demonstration as well as integrating hardware to enable sensory feedback systems. Angle and pressure data feed back into an onboard neural network to enable true-to-life locomotion. Part two of this project investigated 3D bioprinting. 3D bioprinting utilizes a gelatin microparticle slurry as a support medium that functions as a Bingham plastic causing it to behave as a solid under low shear and a liquid under high shear (Hinton 2015). This research focused on examining the effect of formation pH on the morphology and performance of gelatin microparticles.
