Abstract
Most drones trade how far they can fly for how well they can hover. Quadcopters/multirotors: have great hover and short range. Airplane-style/fixed wings have long range and no hover or tight landings. My goal was to build a VTOL (Vertical Take off and Landing) that does both: Vertical takeoff/landing and steady hover. Loiters by gliding in circles, which uses much less energy than hovering. I have built a prototype airframe with successful initial hover tests.
