Vendor's note: "Ex-Phillipps collection," referring to Sir Thomas Phillipps (1792-1872), English collector of books and manuscripts. Phillipps' library of manuscripts on vellum was considered to be the largest ever amassed and was dispersed gradually between 1885 and 2006.
