Description

The HEOA of 2008 mandates that Universities list all course materials being assigned in a course prior to

registration. In a lot of cases the campus bookstore fulfills the University’s requirement for this provision. The Oregon HB 2871 also directs that OER material adopted for course be sent to the campus bookstore for student information and distribution purposes. Beyond just alerting students of OER adoptions for a course the campus bookstore can be an effective instrument in distributing OER material. Yes, your campus bookstore can distribute "FREE" material. The campus bookstore is often the information hub for all things course related for both students and parents. Leveraging the strengths of your campus bookstore when it comes to OER promotion and distribution should be part of any campus OER strategy. This presentation will show how the OSU Beaver Store collaborates with the campus library and with faculty to both direct to and distribute OER material adopted for course use.
