Description
Developing an open educational resource can be a worthy and valued project; however, it is challenging and can feel overwhelming. Textbook authorship requires more than creating content. There are logistics and perspectives to consider. These should not dissuade those motivated to create open content, rather, it requires recognizing and using the resources available to you. There are many skilled experts to turn to throughout this process. The goal is to acknowledge the development of OERs is intensive and challenging, but that many resources and supports are available to make it a collaborative, successful, and less stressful project. This talk discusses open textbook creation through an Open Oregon sponsored to develop an art textbook created by instructors in different disciplines.
