John Billingham was the Director of the Life Sciences Division at the NASA Ames Research Center, and went on to direct the SETI (Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence) Institute. In the lecture, he emphasizes that in order to be successful, human space settlements must utilize building materials from the moon and asteroids, and energy from the sun.
