TEDx Portland State University

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxPortlandStateUniversity, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized. These local events have become a truly international phenomenon, taking place in more than 130 countries, sparking deep discussion and connection around the world. TEDx PSU is organized by student volunteers who have dedicated their time, skills, and passion to follow the TED vision: Spread Ideas. The event features speakers from Portland State's campus and local communities.

TED.com is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks that are 18 minutes or less. TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages.
