“Turn on, tune in, but don’t drop out.”
The Portland State University Campus Rap-In was a radio broadcast hosted and produced by Portland State students for the campus community. It aired weekly on Sunday nights at 10 p.m. between November 1969 and May 1970 on KGW-AM.
The Rap-In’s half-hour broadcasts included formal and informal interviews with Portland State students, faculty, and members of campus organizations; editorials on local and national news; poetry and prose readings; comic sketches; and announcements of campus events. The original programs also contained popular music tracks which have not been reproduced for online listening. The programs were digitally transferred from reel-to-reel audiotapes.
