About This Journal

Anthós is a student-run, faculty-reviewed academic journal that publishes outstanding work produced by Portland State University Honors College undergraduate students.

Anthós offers PSU Honors students the opportunity to experience the journal submission process and participate in scholarly knowledge-production by providing a channel for the publication of original writing and research.

Anthós is proud to provide Honors students an audience beyond professors to appreciate their insights and dedicated work. As of 2024, issues are now accessible both digitally and in print.

“Anthós” derives from the Greek word for a shoot, sprout, bud, or blossom. Thus, each essay is but one branch of a growing and blossoming tradition of exceptional undergraduate studies at PSU.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide PSU Honors students of all academic backgrounds the opportunity to learn about and participate in academic publishing from submission, peer-review, and revision processes while publishing innovative and rigorous interdisciplinary research.

What kind of work does Anthós publish?
The articles featured in Anthós represent a broad range of academic disciplines. All articles are written by Portland State University Honors College students, and many originate as papers written for students’ courses (in both Honors and non-Honors courses). The main goal of each issue is to feature articles that best represent our community’s knowledge-production and stimulate scholarly discourse. Every submission is carefully reviewed in order to meet this standard.
