Abstract
In response to a quickly changing world in need, transformative sustainability education (TSE) has emerged as a provocative area of study and practice. TSE draws from both the fields of transformative learning and sustainability education, expanding both with new onto-epistemological perspectives that offer transformative and regenerative opportunities. Here we explore and expand TSE in the context of higher education, and consider how contemplative pedagogies can support TSE. We highlight several contemplative pedagogies that are present in the Leadership for Sustainability Education (LSE) graduate program and share personal stories from recent LSE graduates that showcase the potential of these pedagogies for transformative sustainability learning.
