Abstract
This thesis reflects on a consulting project conducted through the Portland State University Business Capstone course in partnership with a mission-driven food startup, referred to as Company P. The project focused on evaluating the company's growth challenges and developing strategic recommendations in marketing, finance, and operations. Using established business frameworks, including SWOT analysis, PESTEL analysis, Porter's Five Forces, and break-even modeling. The consulting team assessed the firm's competitive environment and financial feasibility.
This thesis primarily examines the author's learning experience during the project. As a student specializing in supply chain management and leadership, the author was required to work extensively in finance and marketing, creating both challenges and opportunities for growth. Through this experience, the author developed greater cross-functional knowledge, improved client communication skills, and a deeper understanding of startup dynamics. The thesis concludes that adaptability, collaboration, and interdisciplinary thinking are essential competencies for effective leadership in modern business environments.
