Abstract
Stage managers are arguably one of the most important roles for any production. They are responsible for managing all aspects and protocols necessary in order to have rehearsals and performances. Because theater is a collaborative art form, there are often many obstacles that may affect the overall quality of the production. I believe that these obstacles happen because of a lack of communication, respect, and/or trust within a production. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to explore the importance of communication, respect, and trust within production work; how it affects the artistic culture of theater, and how a stage manager can utilize these three aspects in regards to their management approach.
