Abstract
A boy named Dorian walks through the backdoor of a beach house on the Oregon Coast at sunset and can't remember if he came from the sea or the sky. He was summoned by the ingredients harvested to make clam chowder. This young adult short story centers around the narrator's attempts at understanding how to get back to where he came from, with a particular attention to the lived experience of mushrooms.
