Leaf from The Golden Legend by Jacopo da Voragine, translated by William Caxton (?) from the French.
47 lines to a page; double columns; no signatures; text in black letter. Recto (238r) contains woodcut portrait in lower right corner "of Saynt Adryan" standing beside a small bird-like creature with a human face.
Text includes the last page of "The Natyuite of our lady" (238r) and the first page of "The lyfe of saynt Adryan" (238v).
Gift in memory of A. Gordon Hunter.
