Description
St. Bede the Venerable (673-735). Recto of manuscript leaf from Bede's Homilia, circa 12th century.
Text in Latin from Homilia I, 8. (In purificatione sanctae Mariae; Feast of the Purification of the Virgin Mary, February 2).
Two columns, 44 lines. Damaged at top and outer edge. Recto is erased or badly worn; only the initial "S" in red and blue is legible. The "S" is the initial for the beginning of the Homily: "Sollemnitatem."
