Description
As practicing equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) to serve diverse students has become a mandatory approach in higher education settings, Open Education Resources (OER) has been offering a possible solution to this by reducing the barriers in student learning and success, especially for those from underrepresented groups. However, the development and implementation of the OER in criminal justice has been notably slower compared to other disciplines, and its related research is limited as well.
In the present research, we will conduct (1) a content analysis based on the dataset provided by the Open Oregon Educational Resources through a grant funded by the U.S. Department of Education, to understand the existing gaps and limitations of the development of criminal justice OER; and (2) survey research of students in Oregon to further explore students’ awareness, experience, and expectations in OER.
