Abstract
From the Water is an assemblage of poems mapping identity. In an effort to untangle the artifacts connecting familial mythology and personal experience, this diaristic archive is an excavation of personhood. What is uncovered is so much different than what I imagined. Where I assumed I would find clarity and closure, this collection unravels into a landscape that often feels unrecognizably familiar. The poems confront images blurred by longing, regret as pervasive as kudzu, and the capacity for grief to be the greatest measurement of love.
