Abstract
Desert: Poems utilizes both traditional and experimental forms to access its main concerns. Through moments of explicit clarity and deliberate obfuscation, taking inspiration from avant-garde and classic Chinese poetry--working with an eye fixed on the modernist and postmodern, the poems-both short and long-look toward the investigation of the forces of sound and multivocality as a way of finding and creating meaning as well as locating the poem's place in advancing cultural shifts and advocating for social change.
