Abstract
In this installation piece, I am creating an environment, a stage if you will, to inform viewers through visual images, shadows and projections, to bear witness to an injustice through the machinations of the state. Philosophically and metaphorically, the piece is a walk through Plato's cave in search of the truth of things formerly perceived as shadows; it is also an allusion to illusions that are both transparent and opaque. It is a critique of “justice” and the administration thereof. There are elements of two and three dimensions employing drawing, painting, etching, photography, sound and a video projection. Materials include house paint, acrylic plastics, plywood, joint compound, column forms, aluminum panels, photographic studio clamps and wires, lighting and electrical control units.
