Abstract
This multi-POV manuscript explores an alternate existence after an alien invasion that leaves a trail of fires, a move to another planet, and the founding of a new world. The two-layered story follows a family, mostly the main character, Olivia, who has memory loss, and her daughter, Makena, her carer, but also her husband, Safari, who must find his son Amani when fires start breaking out. It is also the story of twin aliens (Khaita and Zuriah) seeking to rebuild their world (Aries), which has been destroyed by the Knowledge Keeper, who is also destroying the Earth and turning humans into slaves. Khaita must find his twin, Zuriah, who is trapped somewhere on Earth, to conquer the Knowledge Keeper. This work explores themes of grief, loss, familial disintegration, displacement, occupation, colonization, immigration, climate change and ecological balance, species interconnectedness, the intersection of dream and memory, mother-daughter relationships, interspecies relationships, and alternate relationships.
