Blumel, Portland State University President from 1974 to 1986, dedicated sculptor Frederic Littman's piece for the university, "Farewell to Orpheus." Littman, a prominent Oregon-based artist with a decades-long legacy of art commissions and exhibitions, also taught in the Portland State University Art Department from 1960 until his retirement in 1973. This recording includes comments by the sculptor regarding the background of "Farewell to Orpheus."
Transferred and preserved by Portland State University Library’s Special Collections with the generous support of the Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the Oregon State Library.
