Cyril Northcote Parkinson, a British naval historian and author of numerous works of fiction and non-fiction, wrote extensively on naval history with regards to European intervention in Southeast Asia.
Parkinson served as visiting professor at UC Berkeley 1959-1960 and delivered this address on historical shifts and contrasts between Eastern and Western culture at Portland State College.
The recording includes an introduction by Dr. Brock Dixon, assistant to the Dean of Faculty.
