Notes

A lawyer and Democratic politician, Joseph Clark served as U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania from 1957 to 1969. In 1969 he became President of the World Federalists U.S.A., an organization that advocated for the formation of a world government with stronger autonomous powers than the U.N.

In this presentation at Portland State University, Clark outlines the ways in which a federated world government which mandated peace between nations would also improve and support economic and social conditions domestically.
