Steve Rumrill was interviewed by Hui Rodomsky on December 8, 2023, at the Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport, Oregon.

Rumrill is the shellfish program leader with Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Biographical

Steve Rumrill is the shellfish program leader with Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife since 2010. The shellfish program, as part of the ODFW Marine Resources program based in Newport, Tillamook, Astoria, and Coos Bay, is responsible for monitoring and managing recreational and commercial shellfish fishing and shellfish habitat research along the entire Oregon coast. Rumrill is trained as marine invertebrate zoologist specializing in conservation of populations of shellfish and sustainable habitat management.

Description

"People and the Land" is a collaboration between the Oregon Department of Land Conservation and Development and Portland State University. The goal of this project is to document and preserve a record of Oregon’s land use program through the recording, transcription, collection and archiving of personal oral histories.
