Abstract
Dr. Michael Reardon discusses his career at Portland State from his start as an Assistant Professor in the Department of History in 1964 through his many administrative roles to his eventual service as Interim President of the University from 2007 to 2008.

Biographical
Dr. Michael Reardon served Portland State University as a professor and an administrator for more than 40 years. His career at PSU began in 1964 as an Assistant Professor in the Department of History, where he later became department chair. Before being selected as the Provost in 1992, Dr. Reardon served as Director of the Honors Program, Associate Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Vice-Provost for Academic Affairs. He returned to serve as Interim Provost and Vice-President during the 2004-05 academic year, and again as Interim President of Portland State University in 2007-08. He was instrumental to the implementation of Portland State's nationally recognized general education program, University Studies, in 1994.
Dr. Reardon has been recognized locally and nationally for his teaching and administrative leadership, most recently receiving the Portland State University Distinguished Faculty Career Award in 2006. He is also the recipient of the George C. Hoffmann Award for Faculty Excellence and the Mosser Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching at PSU. Nationally, he received a PEW Leadership Award for Transformation of Undergraduate Education and a Kellogg Award for Leadership in Institutional Transformation.
