Abstract
Issues of work-life balance are not unique to the current generation of academic medical faculty but are certain to remain for future generations. Part-time work as a strategy for improving work-life balance has been used for decades by both men and women in academic medicine, and institutions use flexible work schedules to retain a high-quality workforce.
